Give liberals their proper due: a summary of Michael Montesano’s March 31st, 2012 piece in the Straits Times

Michael Montesano writes to the Straits Times in response to an article by Simon Chesterman, NUS law dean, believing that Chesterman is right in labeling certain criticisms as “vague assertions”, though misinformed in dismissing liberal views.

He asserts that the NYU-NUS collaboration is fundamentally different from the proposed Yale-NUS College; the latter having its own faculty rather than employing visiting faculty from the home university as in the former.

That, he feels, is the root of the argument, as Yale-NUS is set out to be independent from the American university, especially so in key decision making.
